Many people suffer from anxiety. Most of the people that are suffering from this kind of feeling have difficulty falling asleep which may also contribute to them being depressed. Those with anxiety tend to get stressed and feel fear over any kind of situation which can cause a feeling of severe nervousness. Anxiety is a condition of persistent and uncontrollable nervousness, stress, and worry that is triggered by anticipation of future events, memories of past events, or ruminations over day-to-day events, both trivial and major, with disproportionate fears of catastrophic consequences.
This is a normal human emotion that everyone experiences at times. Many individuals feel anxious, or nervous, when faced with a problem at work or at home, before taking a test, or making an important decision. A person who has this serious illness tends to be anxious all the time. If this is not treated, this may lead to serious mental and emotional disorder that will result many in many more illnesses like panic disorder, traumatic disorder, irritability, insomnia, nervousness or phobias and even leads to heart attacks. People suffering from an anxiety disorder will have it affect every aspect of their life from the social life and work setting to the family life. They cannot focus on their everyday activities which will affect their overall work performance. Relationship with their family members and friends will be affected. This is why it is important to learn how to deal with anxiety.
It would be totally absurd to think that something like an anxiety disorder may take a bit of work to get rid of. The human mind takes years and years in most cases to develop into a brain that is afraid of everything. Constant panic attacks and bouts of anxiety are behaviors that do not just appear out of the blue for most people. This is why anxiety can be hard to control. When you learn how to control anxiety attacks, and teach your brain to overcome these feelings, they will start to go away and feel “normal”.
Mindfulness and anxiety is linked to avoidance – by this I mean the avoidance we use after we have encountered an experience that has put us in an anxious position. If we encounter a public situation where we initially end up slightly embarrassing ourselves we of course feel a little embarrassed but also feel a degree of anxiousness. This anxiousness will multiply tenfold with severe anxiety suffers and they will avoid the place and situation for evermore afterwards. Mindfulness will direct us to face the place and situation as soon as possible after a ‘bad’ incident.
How to Deal with Anxiety
Mindfulness and anxiety teaches us to go to our bad experience instead of trying our best to avoid the experience. Different states of mind lead to many different anxiety situations and mindfulness can teach us how to deal with these states of mind and the uncomfortable feeling that comes with them, which will show us how to stop anxiety for good! Mindfulness has the ability ( if used correctly ) to prove to us that we can actually choose how to react in these situations that cause anxiety. How we respond is crucial in the outcome of anxious situations.
One of the greatest stumbling blocks to me getting the help I needed was a lack of education on the subject of anxiety. Generalized anxiety, anxiety and panic attacks are topics that are much more understood and discussed today than they were twenty years ago. Certainly there are better drugs (and other options) available to treat these disorders today. And in general, there is a greatly diminished level of stigma surrounding anxiety and other mental health issues.
In general, it was the understanding that it was myself holding me back, when I found and came across ways to treat anxiety at home, I found this book, and after a few weeks it came as a relief to me. When it comes to wanting to treat anxiety, it really depends on the path you choose, drugs hide the symptoms, and curing your anxiety naturally will rid it all together, or lessen it to a much greater extent, so its up to you. Personally, I stayed on my medication and used this self help book for anxiety, I eventually felt better and better, so I lowered my dosage down and kept doing what I learned, best of luck to the path you choose!
